The more useful question is simpler: what is actually different between the two stones? And what does that mean for the piece you are designing?
TL;DR: our diamonds and coloured gemstones are grown in a controlled lab environment, chemically and optically identical to their mined counterparts.
So what's different?
At the atomic level, nothing.
A lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond are chemically, physically, and optically identical. They possess the same carbon structure, same hardness (both register as a 10 on the Mohs scale), same refractive index, same brilliance, and same thermal conductivity.
A gemologist with a loupe cannot tell them apart. Only specialist equipment that reads trace elements from the growth process can.
The difference exists in its origin. A natural diamond formed between one and three billion years ago, deep in the earth's mantle. A lab-grown diamond is grown in a controlled environment over weeks, replicating those same conditions precisely.
One is geological. The other is engineered. The stone is the same.
What actually changes when you choose lab-grown?
Three things.

Traceability: Lab-grown diamonds have a known, documented origin. HEIREST knows exactly where and how each stone was created, because the process is controlled from the start. Natural diamond supply chains are long, and provenance can often be a lot harder to guarantee.

Specification: Because growing conditions are controlled, lab-grown stones can be produced to precise standards. Consistent colour, clarity, cut, polish, symmetry, and fluorescence to ensure each diamond is optically flawless.

Price: Lab-grown diamonds are significantly less expensive than their natural equivalents at the same exact specification. This comes down to sourcing: a natural diamond requires extraction from the earth, a process that carries significant cost at every stage. A lab-grown diamond bypasses that entirely, produced in a controlled environment without the overhead of mining. Which means the choice between a smaller natural stone and a larger, better-specified lab-grown stone, at the same spend, becomes straightforward.
What does not change?
The stone itself: its hardness, its brilliance, the way it sits in a setting and catches light, or the way it will look in forty years.

That doesn't make natural diamonds obsolete: it makes them a different choice, for a different reason.
