Our Standards

Every HEIREST piece starts with your choices and is finished by hand: cut, set and polished with transparency at every step.

OUR STANDARDS

Diamonds

All HEIREST lab diamonds are independently certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) for pieces of one carat or greater. We set our own standards on top of IGI's. Here is exactly what every specification means, and why it matters.

Colour: D, E, or F

The highest three colour grades in the industry. D is perfectly colourless; E and F are indistinguishable to the naked eye. All three are optically flawless in appearance.

Clarity: VS2 or above

Very Slightly Included: any inclusions are minor and invisible to the naked eye. HEIREST does not source below VS2.

Cut: Excellent or Ideal

The highest cut grade awarded by IGI. Excellent cut maximises the interaction between light and stone. The brilliance you see is a direct result of cut precision.

Polish: Excellent

The smoothness of each facet surface. Excellent polish ensures no surface irregularities interfere with light performance.

Symmetry: Excellent

The precision of facet alignment. Excellent symmetry ensures light returns evenly and predictably.

Fluorescence: None

No fluorescence. Some fluorescence can make a diamond appear hazy or milky in certain lighting conditions. HEIREST sources None-grade stones only.

Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick

The girdle is the outer edge of the stone. Thin to Slightly Thick ensures structural integrity without adding unnecessary weight below the setting.

Pieces under one carat

For diamonds under one carat, HEIREST sources to D/E/F colour and VS2 or above clarity. IGI certification is available on request. Additional cost and lead time may apply - contact support@heirest.com for details.

Cut, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and girdle are not independently graded on sub-one carat stones, though HEIREST applies its own quality screening at the time of selection.

OUR STANDARDS

Gemstones

All HEIREST coloured stones are lab-grown. Lab-grown gemstones are physically, chemically, and optically identical to their mined counterparts, created in controlled conditions with full traceability from source to certification.

Available gemstones:

  • Pigeon Blood Ruby
  • Royal Blue Sapphire
  • Zambian Emerald

For each coloured stone, HEIREST confirms colour, material, and shape. IGI certification is available on request. Additional cost and lead time may apply.

OUR STANDARDS

Metals

We offer four metals across yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, and platinum.

9 Karat Gold

Hallmark: 375 (37.5% pure gold)
The hardest of our gold alloys. More resistant to surface scratching. Well suited to everyday wear and active lifestyles.

14 Karat Gold

Hallmark: 585 (58.5% pure gold)

A well-established balance between purity, durability and colour. Harder than 18k, with strong performance across daily wear.

18 Karat Gold

Hallmark: 750 (75% pure gold)

The preferred standard for fine jewellery and engagement rings. Higher gold content and greater malleability means prongs flex rather than fracture: easier to service, and the metal degrades less over decades of wear.

Platinum

Hallmark: 950 (95% pure platinum)

The densest and most substantial metal we offer. Platinum is naturally white: its colour requires no surface treatment. It develops a soft patina over time, repolishable on request.

White Gold and Rhodium Plating

All white gold pieces are rhodium plated to achieve their bright white finish. Over time, rhodium plating can wear. HEIREST can arrange re-plating at workshop cost - contact support@heirest.com.

Our documentation

When is it included:
All HEIREST white lab diamonds are independently certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) for pieces of one carat or greater.

What does it document:
The IGI Certificate grades the individual stone independently of the finished piece. It is issued by the International Gemological Institute and provides full third-party verification that the stone meets the specifications it was selected to.

  • Unique IGI report number
  • Stone origin: confirmed laboratory-grown
  • Shape and cutting style (e.g. Round Brilliant, Oval)
  • Measurements (length × width × depth, in millimetres)
  • Carat weight
  • Colour grade
  • Clarity grade
  • Cut grade
  • Polish grade
  • Symmetry grade
  • Fluorescence grade
  • Girdle thickness
  • A proportion diagram and inclusion plot specific to the stone

When is it included?
A third-party Jeweller's Report, issued by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) is complimentary with multi-stone pieces including five-stone rings, eternity bands, tennis bracelets and tennis necklaces.

What does it document?
A Jeweller's Report assesses the finished piece as a whole rather than grading each stone individually. It provides independent, third-party confirmation that the piece matches the specifications you ordered.

  • Total diamond carat weight across the piece
  • Number of stones set
  • Stone type: confirmed lab-grown diamond
  • Overall colour and clarity grades across all stones
  • Metal type and hallmark
  • Setting type
  • Overall piece dimensions

An HEIREST Statement of Authentication is included with every order.

What does it document?

This document confirms that the piece you received matches the specifications you ordered, to the standards set out on this page. For diamonds of one carat or greater, it is accompanied by an IGI Certificate providing independent third-party verification of stone grades.

The statement documents:

  • Stone type: lab-grown diamond or lab-grown coloured gemstone
  • Stone shape and cut style
  • Carat weight
  • Colour grade
  • Clarity grade
  • Cut, polish, symmetry and fluorescence grades (diamonds of one carat or greater)

OUR STANDARDS

Craft

Every HEIREST piece is crafted by jewellers with decades of experience in fine jewellery. Each stone is hand-set, each piece hand-polished and individually inspected before dispatch.

Modern engineering ensures precision and consistency at every step. Traditional craftsmanship ensures nothing that matters is left to automation.

Our Eight-Step Quality Control Process

Every HEIREST piece passes through eight distinct points of review before it reaches you to ensure it is perfect.

Step 1: Wax Mold

The wax mold is verified against the original CAD file before casting begins. No metal is poured until the form is exact.

Step 2: Casting

Once cast, every detail is assessed for completeness, size, and shape. Any defect is addressed before the piece advances.

Step 3: Fitting

Before setting begins, the metalwork is reviewed a final time and each stone is evaluated for quality and fit against the structure it will sit in.

Step 4: Setting

After setting, every stone is checked for correct placement, security, and finish.

Step 5: Polishing

Following detailed polishing, every corner and surface is examined and cleaned.

Step 6: Completed Piece

A complete review of size, polish, setting, stone, engraving, and function - confirmed against The HEIREST Standard before sign-off.

Step 7: Head Jeweller Review

Each piece is reviewed and signed off by our Head Jeweller, who has over 30 years experience.

Step 8: HEIREST Founder Review

A final review by HEIREST's founder before the piece leaves our studio.
