Product Care
From the day you create it, your HEIREST piece is helping shape your legacy; able to be passed down for generations to come. Fine jewellery is designed to be worn, not stored. With the right care, it will remain as beautiful as the day it arrived.
Care Tools Included with Your Order
Every HEIREST order includes a travel pouch for safe keeping and storage, and a microfibre cloth for cleaning and polishing between wears.
From your second order, you will also receive an HEIREST cleaning pen, designed for regular at-home stone cleaning between deeper cleans.
Safe Daily Wear
Fine jewellery is made for life, and most HEIREST pieces are well suited to everyday wear. A few simple habits will keep your piece in its best condition:
- Apply perfume, skincare, and hairspray before putting on your jewellery. Chemicals in these products can affect surface finish over time.
- Remove your piece before swimming. Chlorinated water and saltwater can gradually affect the alloy structure of gold.
- Remove rings before heavy physical activity or sleep if you prefer. Prongs can catch on fabrics and bend over time.
- After wearing, wipe your piece gently with your HEIREST microfibre cloth to remove any residue.
How to Clean Your Piece at Home
Regular, gentle cleaning keeps your piece bright between professional services.
- Use warm (not hot) water and a drop of mild dish soap.
- Gently work the solution into the piece with a soft-bristled brush (a baby toothbrush works well).
- Rinse thoroughly under warm running water.
- Pat dry with your microfibre cloth and allow to air dry fully before storing.
Avoid:
- Ultrasonic cleaners for pieces with prong-set stones or coloured gemstones. Vibration can loosen stones over time.
- Harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cloths. These can damage surface finishes and alloys.
- Soaking for extended periods.
How to use your HEIREST Cleaning Pen
Particularly effective for multi-stone pieces, where residue can build between stones and in the setting over time.
- Twist the base to activate the cleaning solution.
- Work the brush tip in small circular motions across the stone and surrounding metal.
- Rinse thoroughly under warm running water.
- Pat dry with your microfibre cloth.
- Suitable for use on diamonds, rubies and sapphires. Avoid use on emeralds.
- Use as needed. There is no minimum interval between uses.
How to Store Your Piece
Store each piece separately to avoid scratching. Different metals and stones have different hardness levels. Diamond can scratch gold, and platinum can mark against softer metals.
- Your HEIREST travel pouch is ideal for individual storage and transport.
- If storing multiple pieces together, use a lined jewellery box with individual compartments.
- Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight and heat.
Checking Your Piece
It is worth periodically checking the condition of your piece, particularly the setting:
- Gently test each stone; it should feel completely secure with no movement.
- Check that prongs are smooth and intact, especially after any knocks.
- If a stone feels loose or a prong appears bent, stop wearing the piece and contact support@heirest.com before wearing it further.
Stone loosening in the first 12 months of ownership is covered under your HEIREST warranty.
Professional Servicing
We recommend professional cleaning and inspection every 12 to 24 months, depending on how frequently you wear your piece. A professional inspection can identify any settling or wear before it becomes an issue.
HEIREST can arrange servicing. Contact support@heirest.com to discuss options.
White Gold & Rhodium Plating
White gold achieves its bright white colour through a thin layer of rhodium plating. Over time, with regular wear, this layer can gradually wear and reveal a slightly warmer tone underneath. This is entirely normal.
Re-plating restores the original finish and is typically recommended every 12 months. HEIREST can arrange this at workshop cost. Contact us at support@heirest.com.
Coloured Gemstones
Lab-grown gemstones are durable, though some are more sensitive than others. The following applies to HEIREST coloured stones:
- Avoid ultrasonic cleaning.
- Store separately from diamonds. Diamonds are harder and can scratch coloured stones.
- Emeralds benefit from careful handling. Avoid impact and temperature extremes.
